Stress is basically a natural thing. There is healthy and unhealthy stress. It’s great to mobilize “the entire crew” and run in order to reach the bus, score a goal in football, climb to the top of the mountain or spend an extra hour at work, getting things done, for a while. It is quite normal and a natural part of our physiology.

However it is prolonged unresolved stress that is unhealthy. We can be physically pressured by too much work, pain, accidents, illness or trauma, not to mention mental stress, worries and emotional imbalances. Each of us is comprised of many layers that affect us in different ways. Here is an example of how stress can affect us and how we can re-dress the balance in our lives.

A 65-year-old woman came to the clinic with serious problems after an accident four years earlier, where she had suffered a shock to her head from an electric fence, intended to contain animals, which she had she had tried to crawl under. Since then she suffered from severe memory loss, balance problems, travel sickness, intolerance to loud noise, could not “multitask”, had problems watching the subtitles on TV, difficulty using a calculator for her book keeping, in following the traffic during driving, discomfort when travelling at high speed, difficulty with both reading and comprehension, mood swings, difficulty maintaining order and structure, lack of overview and logical sense, low level of concentration and quick to lose interest.

She really had so many symptoms of dysfunction throughout many areas of her life – and to top it all, this lady ran her own book-keeping business! She really struggled to do this job, but with the help of her husband and sheer determination, she managed to keep her business afloat, but only just!

Over the years, she had been examined by several doctors including specialist physicians in neurology who although they agreed that their patient had pretty serious issues could not find anything wrong with scans, so therefore gave no diagnosis or treatment plans. She was also investigated for dementia, but thankfully found this was not the case.

Finally this lady presented at our clinic, for a live blood test, which we also did for her. However I soon realised that it was most important that we take care of the brain first.

In my search for new ways to health, I have encountered some energy patches, which, in short, function in much the same way as acupuncture but without needles. When our patient came to the clinic I had just been to a conference and learnt about how to test for stress in the brain and how to use the patches to address this imbalance.

As the whole problem was the brain, I made sure that the necessary neurological tests and studies were carried out – specifically testing of B and D vitamins and, in particular, the minerals, all of which are necessary for brain and nervous system transmission. The vitamin D level was far too low, so she was put on large, concentrated doses to quickly increase her levels. Not surprisingly the brain balance test revealed a major imbalance in the communication between the right and left hemispheres. One of the energy patches is particularly good at balancing the nervous system, and our patient got a tailored program with the patches at six selected points. At first we only applied the patches for two minutes at each point and only every other day. We had to go carefully, as the patient suffered with headaches, dizziness and nausea if we worked at a higher intensity. In just a few minutes, she noticed a subtle change. One week later, she felt more together than she had for a while. After two weeks, she could now read the subtitles on TV and orient herself better. She received a good response from her husband who thought she was more present and involved in what was happening in her daily life.

After seven weeks, she held an annual meeting in the art association with 69 attendants whom she had to check and give a number for a draw. Afterwards she presented accounts and accepted a quota. She was able to talk and deliver her presentation fully and effectively. She had never stood before such a large assembly prior to this.

She really felt she was re-gaining control. Only one slight problem occurred, which was the misplacement of ONE registration fee! This was a huge step in the right direction for her.

After six months, she wrote to us:

“I have just had a three-day auditor’s meeting concerning my book keeping business where I could remember the things we had talked about from start to finish and recognize the numbers. I can also cook on four hotplates while my husband asks for oil or a spice. Before I started with the patches, I was completely unable to function in my kitchen if I were asked such a question – but now I am able to answer and stir the pots at the same time. Yesterday we found some errors with entries on a bank document, and I found “the missing amount” faster than my assistant! Now I manage six-digit numbers on the calculator without any problems, and I can keep an overview, structure and maintain focus better. I can travel in high-speed cars without problems. I would like you to know how wonderful it is to feel human again!! ”

For her, brain balancing was just what she needed, but there are more ways to bring about a healthier balance in life. It was just one of many. What do you do when you have too much stress in your life?
